S.P.A.R.K Summer Camp

The summer program is designed to increase reading and comprehension skills, overall academic skills, prevent summer learning loss, teach teamwork, build character, and create successes, even seemingly small ones. It also teaches motivation for lifelong learning and creates interest in helping others in their community.

We have an academic focus, for healthy minds, physical exercise for healthy bodies, and field trips to expose our kids to other activities and experiences they may not have experienced before.

The summer program includes a full day of activities from 8:00am to 4:30pm Monday - Friday for kids ages 7 - 13.

It is a six-week program that includes hot meals and transportation to and from field trip locations.

Parents need a break too. Life has its ups and downs, and we are here to facilitate healthy conversations and self-care wellness to our community parents and guardians. This is a new program administered by a community partner. It is designed to cover healthy parenting and family development skills while managing the challenges of a poverty level community.

It includes subjects such as understanding children of all ages, exploring discipline, defining abuse, and effective parenting techniques. We also dive into the traumas and hurts of the past and present to break generational cycles of abuse, poor physical and emotional health, and learning to love ourselves and our neighbors.

Six (1 hour) classes are held during each semester. The program is delivered onsite at BWCC. Parents are always surprised to learn positive reinforcements on the first day which they can begin using immediately to assist their children. The program ends with a graduation ceremony. If parents attend the courses, BWCC will discount the fee for their children’s participation in Summer Camp in the summer.
